Stella J. Bayless

	Stella J. Bayless, 92, of Greenville, formerly of Elkville and Dowell, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2001 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Greenville.
	Stella was a homemaker and had been owner of the Elkville Restaurant.  She had also been a dietary supervisor at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in DuQuoin.  She had resided in Elkville for 16 years, Dowell for 74 years and two-and-a-half years in Greenville.  She graduated from Elkville Grade and High Schools.  She was the oldest member of the Dowell Baptist Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher and treasurer and served in many other offices and on several committees.  She was a member of the DuQuoin Eastern Star and had been Worth Matron.
	She was born August 12, 1908 at DuQuoin, the daughter of Raleigh and Magnolia (Rees) Fox.  She married Guy E. Bayless on August 27, 1924 at Carbondale.  He passed away November 16, 1976.
	 She is survived by a daughter- Jean Rowe and husband H.Y. of Eldorado, Arkansas; a son- Gerald Bayless and wife Lillie Jane of Greenville; a sister- Bronnes Holmberg of Elkville; a brother- Rayburn Fox of Carbondale; niece- Betty Jo King of Elkville; three grandchildren- Bayless Rowe of Eldorado, Ark., Sally Peper of Greenville and Becky Suess of Greenville; nine great-grandchildren- Michael and Benjamin Rowe, Andy, Adam, Emily and Erin Peper, Nicholas Daniel and Grant Suess.
	She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother- Denver Fox; two sisters- Ethel Flowers and Ilah Tow.
	Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4 at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Rev. Darryl Bolen officiating.  		Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home.
	 Interment was in the Elkville Cemetery.
	 Friends may make memorials to the Dowell Baptist Church.
